I’ve just collated all 600 emails with suggestions from website members, Facebook followers, Tweeters and our other social network followers – added it to the industry suggested nominations I have and started to look at the un-thankful task ahead of me.
There were plenty of spam nominations with the same girls clearly just lobbying their followers to suggest them, some nominations that were completely ill-informed and some that didn’t give enough information but over-all there was an overload of suggestions for each category.
This year we’re trying to keep to a maximum of 12 nominees in each category. That’s easy in categories like “Best Photographer” or “Voluptuous Diva” where there are 12 or less suggestions but when you get to “Best New Face” (26 suggestions), “Best Hardcore Performer” (28 suggestions) or “Best Solo Performer” (25 suggestions) then there are a lot of girls going to be disappointed. So who doesn’t make the cut?
Here’s how it works from here.
a) Anything is removed from the list that not eligible, ie; websites that didn’t update or scenes/DVD’s that weren’t produced within the time frame.
b) The list is shared with our team to see if they have any suggestions (and reasons) on why anyone/anything else shouldn’t be nominated.
c) We then begin an elimination process. This is very very tough but based on a number of factors, including not only the amount of work but also where they have worked (a model who has worked for multiple companies would get moved ahead of a model who hasn’t yet, a model who has done both hardcore and solo would get moved ahead of a model who done solo’s only (Best New Face). Further elimination would take place on the perceived “reach” of the models … how popular they have been on the websites/DVD’s they have appeared on, how many people are “talking” about their scenes across networks and feedback from the producers who have worked with them. It’s not an exact science and the best we can do, is work with the information given via the nomination process, via all the information we have from the websites and DVD’s and from googling, checking social networks, checking our networks/forums and asking opinions on who should make the cut.
d) Finally, we hope to have a list of 12 max. in each category. As nobody in the elimination process is judging or has any say in who goes further, then this should provide the fairest and most balanced list of nominees.
To the models who didn’t make the cut, what can I say? To have people nominating you in the first place shows that you are doing something right – we had 102 brand new models on Shemale Yum alone this year with probably another 60+ on Black Tgirls. Count in new Shemale Strokers, Bobs Tgirls or Kink models and we’re talking around 200 new N.American girls entered the industry in 2013. Then you have the models who have been around for a number of years and still working strongly. There have never been so many quality tgirl models competing for such a relatively small amount of shoots – and even smaller nominations for The Tranny Awards.
All the models, whether nominated or not, I respect you tremendously and I urge you, that if you enjoy modeling and performing, then continue to do so because that is really what the industry is about – enjoying what you do.
The complete nominations will be released sometime next week. Good luck to all.
Always hard to do eliminations cause all models have talent! But that are the rules of awards…
And comparing to oscars or music awards, with 12 nominees, you let the opportunity to some models to be nominated so that’s great!
Good luck for nominations! See you for next vote!
